Reading Assignment 6: BALANCE
The sixth reading assignment is BALANCE - from Design Basics by David A. Lauer and Stephen Pentak. p90-107.Comments are due by 4/28. We will be investigating balance in composition for the next few weeks.
The goal of the Monotype project is to take the composition by your chosen artist and reinterpret it through abstract language. The project is inspired by Nathan Oliveira's series of more than 100 prints which were all based on Goya's "Tauromaquia 21" etching.

Reading Assignment 5: ARTIST CATALOG
The fifth reading assignment is to browse the artist and paintings list discussed in class. Students should look at each time period before choosing an artist and a painting to work from in the upcoming Monotype Project. Your comment (due 4/14) should be about this choice and it should include all of the following information:- Chosen Time period (from list)

- Chosen painting title
- Chosen painting date
- Short comment about chosen paintings.

Reading Assignment 4: EMPHASIS
The topic of this week's reading is Emphasis. (Design Basics by David A. Lauer and Stephen Pentak. p56-69) Comments on the reading are due by 3/17.
Also, in our next project we will be using value to create emphasis. The project will begin with photos shot with special attention to light. Here is a video of an Annie Liebovitz photo shoot to inspire your upcoming shoot. Notice the lighting.
